MikroTik Hotspot Landing Pages, Captive Portals, and Advertising
A hotspot landing page is the sign-in experience shown before a visitor reaches the internet. In AutoXpon Billing, operators can choose a hotspot-page theme, add their own branding, assign it during router onboarding, and publish promotions to the portal.
What the platform supports today
- Branded captive-portal pages with login, voucher redemption, and package-purchase options.
- A previewable hotspot-page theme selected as part of the Router Wizard profile.
- Promotions and advertisements that can be targeted to a router; their views, impressions, clicks, and reward-campaign activity can be measured in the platform.
- Optional post-login redirect URLs and bridge-specific free-trial settings.
These are product capabilities, not a promise of campaign revenue. Advertiser results depend on audience, placement, offer, consent requirements, and campaign design.
A responsible campaign flow
- Create a clear sign-in page that identifies the Wi-Fi provider and tells the visitor what access is being offered.
- Use a relevant, lightweight promotion with an unambiguous call to action; avoid obscuring login or payment controls.
- Target the campaign only to the intended router or location, then review measured impressions and clicks before making changes.
- Test the complete captive-portal journey on an unauthenticated client: redirect, login or voucher redemption, purchase if enabled, and post-login destination.
RouterOS constraint to design around
RouterOS permits one HotSpot server per interface. When HotSpot is used on a bridge, MikroTik documents that the HotSpot interface should be the bridge itself rather than an individual bridge port. Design the portal and segmentation plan around that topology before running the wizard.
